“Balanced Hormones = Boosted Metabolism = Better Life”
I want all women to look & feel their best at any age!
Dawn Cutillo-founder of BeBalanced, author of The Hormone Shift, age 58.
The purpose of this article is to help you understand that, no matter how hard you try, you can’t maintain your weight and feel great without balancing your hormones! It covers some deeper science because you deserve to know the truth about your body and because most doctors don’t explain these concepts to you. So hang in there, we can explain more in your free consultation.
The fact is that you do not have to accept excess belly fat or a muffin top, nor do you have to walk around like a zombie because you aren’t sleeping, while your whole family wants to move out due to your fluctuating mood. All monthly PMS and perimenopause/menopause symptoms are related to simple and common hormone imbalance, which we will help you understand and correct!
Having a monthly cycle, entering perimenopause and menopause are all natural parts of life, but if fluctuating hormones aren’t attended to, each phase can be worse than the previous.
BeBalanced can change this in 30 days!
Let’s start with the basic understanding of what’s happening…
Women are under chronic physical, mental and emotional stress.
#1 Stress hormones, like cortisol, rise, along with blood sugar hormones, like insulin.
#2 This will cause imbalances in your key sex hormones, estrogen and progesterone.
The result of this problematic combination is weight gain, bloating, poor mood, sleep and a plethora of other female-related PMS and menopausal symptoms, such as headaches, hot flashes, fatigue, thyroid problems, low libido, vaginal dryness etc. female-related PMS and menopausal symptoms, such as headaches, hot flashes, fatigue, thyroid problems, low libido, vaginal dryness etc.
#1 Cortisol and Insulin Imbalances
Chronic stress triggers leads to persistently elevated cortisol levels that fundamentally alter metabolic function in aging women. When stress becomes chronic, the body remains in a constant state of “fight or flight,” causing cortisol to be released continuously rather than in the normal rhythmic patterns that support normal metabolism.
This sustained elevation disrupts virtually every aspect of how the body processes and stores energy.
This constant demand for cortisol causes the body to need to convert a key female hormone (progesterone) into cortisol to keep up with the demand, resulting in lower progesterone in relation to estrogen, a condition called “estrogen dominance”.
(See chart and next section for why this is detrimental).
- Elevated cortisol directly promotes insulin resistance by interfering with sugar uptake in muscle and fat cells. As cells become less responsive to insulin, blood sugar levels remain elevated, forcing the pancreas to produce even more insulin. This creates a vicious cycle where high cortisol and high insulin work together to promote fat storage, particularly visceral fat around the midsection.
- Cortisol also stimulates a process where the body creates sugar (glucose) from non-carbohydrate sources like muscle protein, leading to muscle breakdown and further metabolic slowdown. The combination of increased fat storage and decreased muscle mass creates a double hit to metabolic rate.
As women age, their ability to recover from stress and return cortisol levels to baseline = diminishes, making them more susceptible to the metabolic consequences of chronic stress.
#2 Sex Hormone Imbalances of Estrogen and Progesterone
As stated above, estrogen dominance occurs when estrogen levels remain normal relative to lowered progesterone, creating a hormonal imbalance that becomes increasingly problematic as women age. This condition significantly disrupts metabolic function through several key mechanisms that compound over time.
The reason is that estrogen promotes fat-storing, causes fluid retention, while being stimulatory in nature, causing cravings, anxiety and insomnia. On the other hand, progesterone is calming to the mood, aids sleep, is a diuretic and aids fat-burning.
- Estrogen dominance also interferes with insulin sensitivity, making cells less responsive to insulin’s signals. When cells become insulin-resistant, the body compensates by producing more insulin, which promotes fat storage rather than fat burning. This creates a cascade effect where the body increasingly favors storing calories as fat, particularly in the abdominal region, rather than utilizing them for energy. The elevated insulin levels also trigger increased appetite and cravings for carbohydrates, making weight management increasingly difficult.
- Estrogen dominance also disrupts thyroid function by increasing the production of thyroid-binding proteins, which tie up thyroid hormones and prevent them from being available to cells. This suppression slows the overall metabolic rate, reducing the number of calories burned at rest.
- Estrogen dominance can also impair the body’s natural fat-burning processes during sleep and periods of fasting, when the body would normally tap into stored fat for energy.
Summary & Solution
The combination of declining progesterone (which regulates estrogen levels) during perimenopause and menopause, along with sustained high cortisol and insulin, creates a perfect storm for metabolic dysfunction. This hormonal metabolic inflexibility makes it = increasingly challenging for women to maintain a healthy weight and be symptom-free as they navigate hormonal changes with aging.
At BeBalanced we take the guesswork out of weight loss and women’s wellness. We help you gently raise your valuable progesterone levels to balance estrogen, while lowering cortisol and balancing insulin, all while supporting your body’s stress response

How does BeBalanced compare to weight loss shots?
The BeBalanced Weight Loss program conserves muscle, turns off “food noise”(cravings), aids gut health, burns only unneeded excess fat deposits–not structural fat needed to shape the face– to the tune of 15-20 lbs. in 30 days. Our only side effects: sleeping better with more energy and being happier
In short, the BeBalanced approach speeds up the metabolism by balancing the hormones, while the weight loss shots slow it down.
Therefore, any loss is from the body cannibalizing its muscle and structural fat (Ever heard of Ozempic face?), before it ever touches excess “blubbery” fat deposits on hips, thighs and stomach that you don’t want or need!
Explanation:
- Semaglutide in weight loss injections work by dramatically slowing gastric emptying and reducing appetite, which leads to significant calorie restriction often triggering the body’s starvation response. This causes the metabolic rate to decrease as the body attempts to conserve energy. This metabolic adaptation can persist even after stopping the medication, making it difficult to maintain weight loss without continued pharmaceutical intervention.
- The rapid weight loss often includes substantial muscle mass loss alongside fat loss, particularly when not combined with adequate protein intake and resistance training. Since muscle tissue is metabolically active and burns calories at rest, losing muscle directly reduces metabolic rate. Many women experience a significant drop in their basal metabolic rate even when returning to normal eating patterns.
- Their effect on sex hormones is reported to cause irregular menstrual cycles, reduced libido, and symptoms similar to perimenopause. The body interprets severe calorie restriction as a threat to survival and downregulates reproductive function to conserve energy.
- The combination of metabolic slowdown and hormonal disruption creates a challenging situation where women become dependent on the medication to maintain weight loss, while simultaneously dealing with reduced energy, compromised hormonal health, and a slower metabolism that makes long-term weight maintenance difficult without continued pharmaceutical support.
So skip the pharmaceutical injections and give BeBalanced a shot!
